How to Build Your Online Presence

So, you’ve decided to be your own boss…

Congrats! Starting your own business is a big deal! Whether it’s a side hustle, part or full-time, venturing into entrepreneurism takes a lot of organization and hard work.

I’m sure you’ve set up your social media, even a website, and you’ve been promoting your business and networking to find clients.

You’ve joined the Facebook groups. You’ve made the cute Canva graphics to show off on your Instagram. You’ve created cool blog posts for your website. You’re messaging potential clients, you’re cold pitching and you’re updating your socials with fun posts for people to interact with…

But you’re getting crickets. What’s going wrong here?

I’ve been running my online business, Coached by Dinasty, for over five years. As the Marketing Maven, I can say with confidence that creating your online presence is very strategic!

Everything you do for your business (and I mean everything) lends itself to who you are as a brand, and who you are in the eyes of your audience. I’ve taken a lot of time and effort to shape my identity as the “Marketing Maven” because it’s my job to be skilled in social media marketing and business growth. Now, I’m going to show you how to do the same for your business!

Growing your business is directly tied to your online presence, and this how to do so in two steps!

Know Your Brand

This may seem obvious but it’s the most crucial. When it comes to starting an online business, I believe we tend to forget about the sheer amount of people online...and those people can become competition.

Learning how to brand online is answering this question: “Who are you?”

What’s your personality? What’s your product or service? How’s it better than the rest? Why should a customer choose you over someone else?

Your business name, your logo, your social media and your website should reflect the answers to these questions.

Once you know your brand, you’ll recognize who your products or services are best suited for, and you’ll know how to market to them. Your brand is a staple of your business. It’s how people will identify you from the others who do what you do.

When crafting your brand, use the answers from the questions above to design your own logo and business slogans to use across your social media. You’ll need a consistent color palette, and your logo should be timeless and sleek! You want it to represent who you are and what you do.

This is how you’ll stick out in your audience’s minds, and they’ll think of you first when they think of what they need.

Building your brand also comes down to your business name, aka what you do and how you do it. Take my coaching services for example. Coached by Dinasty clearly states that I am a coaching service and a business consultant. The client will be learning from my expertise.

I chose a color palette for my business logo that represents who I am and what I bring to the table! Gold for wealth and grandeur and blue for inspiration and wisdom. My services are all about teaching you how to make money online and become a successful business owner.

Target Your Audience

If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to create all the social media platforms with your business name as the handle so potential clients can find you! If you’re following my steps from earlier, you’ll know where to find your audience and what platforms they like to use.

All you have to do now is show up and network!

Connecting with your potential customers is all about building trust and engaging with them. You can have the best product in the world, but if no one knows about it...the customer isn’t happy and neither are you! They are missing out on you and you aren’t making money.

When creating content that grabs the customer’s attention, I use a few general tricks that always work!

  • Inspirational or Motivational Posts
  • Product Promotions
  • Testimonials

People are attracted to positive vibes. When you invite your audience into your world with inspirational posts to uplift them, they become fans!

Promotions and testimonials are also very useful because this encourages your audience to buy from you and see the results beforehand! Think about organizing your own marketing plan and putting together an advertising budget. There are two types of promotions that you can work with:

  • Paid Promotion This is when you run ads on your social media to spread awareness about your business. Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn ads can bring potential clients to your site where they can explore you. You can also start affiliate marketing where you work with influencers and other business owners!
  • Free Promotion: This is “word of mouth” from clients and interested people and/or self-promotion. Testimonials are an excellent way to show that you are capable of what you say you are! There’s no shame in bragging about yourself!

When you self-promote your business, you should become a “product of your product.” When you show the results of what you do, it gets people excited! Whether you are selling makeup, clothing or your amazing services, you should be an example of what you are selling.

Always, always, always follow up your posts with a call to action. Tell them to write you an email, book a call with you, or fill out your contact form with their information.

This step is vital because this where you seal the deal with a professional invitation to work with you!
